So Much for the New Year Resolutions!

leftMy morals have always been … flacid. Rarely have I successfully stuck with a sound and generally wholesome idea / task / purpose to its ultimate conclusion. Just one of my many (many!) fascinating flaws. So this New Year I thought I’d truly stun myself, and those around me, by building a staggeringly unrealistic list of new years resolutions on which to focus my temporary gaze. The logic being - if I stick with and accomplish just one of these wonderfully noble self-help-promises - I’ll be ‘in like Flint’ with my confidence and might even win some money from those doubters around me! (the pot grows (and blackens))
Thus far - I’m pacing well! Subtle stretches of definition on a couple of my self-improvement mandates has helped here and there but … day 3 and I’m feeling good about making it through to the weekend.

So I am deeply (deeply!) disappointed with my friends - the politicians - who vigorously assured me via email and telephone that they’d stick with their singular new year’s resolution - to playing nicely with each other and those around them. You know who you are and I’m trusting you to get back on track before people start to notice! [seriously! tongues are starting to wag!]
These are not rough guidelines across which you can meander when you see fit! These are firm self-imposed obligations you wrote carefully and with great focus between the Yagers at the Round Robin. I still have the scrawled-on napkins to prove it and Drudge will be informed if you don’t behave!

  • 1| Whoever ‘borrowed’ Rudy’s play-book, give it back and stop with the tattle-tales (Johnny-boy!)
  • 2| Hillary, play nicely with Barack. Sometimes less is more, if you know what I mean.
  • 3| Nancy, how many times have you been told about bullying. Play gently or folks will find someone else to play with in the House.
  • 4| George!. Just stop it already. Stand in the corner. You know what you did.

Seriously guys. Day 3 and I think this will be a fascinating year for more-of-the-same-old-crap. There is plenty of opportunity to do something right this year. Fixing Iraq, fixing the spending, fixing the imbalance in education, cleaning up the House of scum and corruption and how about capturing a couple of bad guys!? Oh and those North Korean and Iranian issues aren’t going to go away on their own! - not to mention that whole PEACE problem in the middle-east.

Much to do there is. Try not. Do or do not, there is no try.

My resolutions? No alchohol. No Swearing. Exercise. Patience. Daily Blog Post. Nice to Family. Thoughtfulness. Remember I have a Wife.
