Huffington Blogger John Seery’s Sick Contest
I rarely squander my time to peruse the Huffington Post. The sheer scale of their Bush vitriol is too much and the personal attacks on his character detract from the bigger problem of his presidential skillset.
So when I followed a Pajamas Media mention of a sick Huffington Post blogger - my curiosity got the better of me - and I must profess to be gobsmacked by the sheer scale of poster John Seery’s disgust for all things American.
Huffington Post | Predict the Number of Troops Killed in the Next Year
Begins:
How many U.S. troops will be killed in Iraq in the next year?
Submit your best estimate here.
The Bush administration won’t dare go public with such hard and somber calculations about expected casualties–which would help weigh the costs of this renewed war effort. So I figure conscientious HuffPo readers will step into that breach. …
I’ll keep track–our memories are long–and we’ll notify the “winner” one year from today.
I’m not sure, however, what you’ll win, or even if you could call it a victory. But Americans like to play to win, we’ve been told. And it doesn’t take much of a sacrifice to ponder the possibility of someone else’s death.
I hope John Seery recognizes a glimmer of humility when he reads the plethora of comments quickly applied to his sick blog post. Each poster attacked Seery and his twisted contest and rightfully so.
Aggrieved posters fierce responses include:
“I read the Huffington Post every day and this is the first time I’ve ever been embarassed to be a reader and supporter of the site.”
“Sorry John, but as a disabled Vietnam veteran, I find the premise highly offensive. This isn’t a game show.”
“As a retired vet,I submit to you, that this is a very sick exercise. Tony”
“While this is supposed to be satire, it is pretty f-ing crass. Readers here may have loved ones in harms way; shame on you.”
“In addition to being horrified at this absurd abuse of free speech, I’d be really interested to know what the author would guess at the number of dead human beings in the Middle East if we should simply abandon the fight against radical Islam. …”
It was not until I ran a quick Google on the illustrious bio of John Seery that the full picture emerged. This is a radical leftist who hates America and whose sole career is to bash it, the President and the U.S. military at every chance he can get.
