Hugo Chávez Uniting the World Against America

borderIsn’t it wonderful how the mighty mainstream media in the U.S. aids and comforts the nation’s blissful ignorance of so many growing threats around the world?

Every once in a while a cable news network might fly up a scary graphic headline supported by old news footage, some scary sound effects and a dreadfully serious anchorperson will introduce the latest threat to the nation with credible passion and great zeal. On rolls the over-used former ambassador, has-been political hack, and retired military general or zany political wonk with a new book to flog. The segment will last for five minutes and onto the story about an alligator in a Florida swimming pool or updates from week five of the Trump-O’Donnell petty squabble. Easily digested news and easily forgotten. No wonder the nation is taken to ignoring the growing ensemble of global threats! The White House is accused of more scare-tactics and the focus returns to the Superbowl.

Whilst the typical armchair-American relaxes in front of the ‘Telly’ and devours another quality segment of prime-time reality, there are nations across the world - diverse in language, religion, and culture - that share one common bond, one multi-threaded scheme; the dismantling and utter destruction of the United States of America.

What used to be an assortment of unhinged ‘evil-doers’, widely spread rogue-nation-states, jungle-loving revolutionary rebels, militant extremist political parties, radical Islamofascist fundamentalists and a whole ensemble of freelance terrorist and anarchist summer camps are now uniting under the auspices of Venezuela’s President Hugo Chávez, the self-declared savior from the ravages of American imperialism.

El Presidente Chávez obviously must have a script, a master ‘evil doer’ plan else how on earth can he keep up with all the associations, promises, obligations, check-writing and planned speeches he has to deliver to each of his ministries of hate? His reach is quite impressive:

- For the ‘Axis of Evil’: He has reached out to and supplied each of the ‘Axis of Evil’ member states (Iran, Syria, North Korea) with offers of political support, economic aid, oil-pacts, military investments or a whole piñata full of anti-American speeches and provocations.

- For China: massive oil-pact, military purchase programs and intelligence-sharing enterprises against American interests around the world.

- For central and South American nations: the establishment of a trade pact called ALBA - ‘Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas’ - to counter the US-pushed Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA)

- For revolutionary rebels in Central and South America: Financial and military aid to communist militant groups in settled democratic countries throughout the region.

- For the São Paulo Forum: An informal association of socialist and extreme left-wing political organizations from all across the Americas with one shared ideology and ambition; to influence regional elections to encourage the establishment of socialist governments throughout the region.

- For the Islamofascist terrorists: the offer of aid and comfort in a warm climate - with sandy beaches, wide-open space for exercise facilities and spiritual retreats.

- For the worlds arms industry: the opportunity to sell state-of-the-art weaponry at petrol-dollar inflated prices. This includes arms-dealers from Russia, China and even Israel!

- For low-income families in New York and New Jersey: heavily discounted heating oil delivered by Venezuela’s CITGO as witnessed by progressive politicians and timely reporters and TV crews.

- For Cindy Sheehan - mother, ignorant and immoral peace-activist: hugs and an ATM check card.

As Cuba’s Fidel Castro lays sick and potentially dying - Hugo Chávez has assumed the mantle of leadership from the Godfather of communism and, with the aid of Venezuela’s massive oil income, is building influence and uniting every anti-American entity for one sole ambition, the destruction of the United States of America and the irradiation of its global influence.

In a very poor and tasteless analogy, what Chávez is to Bush, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is to Dick Cheney. An aggressive schema that whispers bigger-picture ambitions into the ear of the boss. This is made especially terrifying when it is reported that Venezuela has signed a deal with Iran to supply bountiful quantities of mined uranium for Iran’s apocalyptic nuclear program.
A story in the Washington Times suggests:

“A Venezuelan diplomat, Julio César Pineda, said that uranium reserves in Venezuela ‘were estimated to be approximately 50,000 tons.’ He also believes in the possible existence of the Israeli report. ‘Israel is on the alert as to what is happening because there is that Iranian threat of wiping it off the map. Europe is also on the alert and even the Arabic world…”

Simply filing this away as possible exaggeration might be foolish but understandable until you also consider Venezuela’s trade pact signed with other-nuclear-wannabe North Korea! It just keeps getting better! China daily reported almost two years ago that Venezuela and North Korea are building closer political and economic ties. So a mineral rich, uranium mining, anti-American communist-thinking revolutionary nutter with oodles of oil influence and a bulging bank account wants to develop economic ties with a poor, embargo-ridden dictator located across the world for frequent flyer miles? This bodes well for the paranoid amongst us.

On the subject of China … Venezuela and China recently signed and sealed a significant oil deal under which China would import 300,000 barrels of oil a day in 2007 for its exploding oil-dependent economy. This amortizes to over 100 million barrels of oil a year, which is a significant chunk of China’s total oil, imports for 2006! When crude oil is trading on the open market at $50 a barrel, this is an insane amount of money for your average dictator to spend. Hopefully by now you’ve realized Hugo Chávez is no ordinary tin-pot dictator of an impoverished third-word country.

Of course it also seems China’s friendly relations with Venezuela extend between economic ties. China’s intelligence services are already reported to have listening-posts located in Cuba - eavesdropping on sensitive U.S. communications. The leap of imagination for Chinese intelligence activities in friendly Chávez-country is not that vast.

What to do with all that oil wealth? Besides Chávez’s generous economic aid - kind donations - to other American-despising nations around the world - seeking influence and loyalty - Chávez is also building up his military ‘defenses’ incase of Yankee aggression. The biggest arms exported in the world for conventional weaponry? Our friends the Russians! Russian’s weapons industry exports it’s arsenal of death through a single state-owned enterprise called RosoBoronExport State Corporation - which recently announced spectacular increases in global exports sales.
Not to be outdone - even the Israeli weapons industry has a stake in the Venezuelan military shopping spree. It is fascinating how hypocritical this seems when you consider the close ties between Chávez and Iran - the most eager of all nations to see nuclear wasteland in place of an Israeli nation.

borderHugo Chávez is seeking to turn Central and South America into an image of Cuba. Continuing the revolutionary aspirations of Fidel Castro and Hugo’s hero, the 19th century “El Libertador” Simón Bolívar - under whom Chávez idolizes and mirrors his desire to free the oppressed Latin nations from the yoke of American globalism. As a side note, Simón Bolívar, it is said, was a great admirer of the American Revolution. I wonder if Hugo knows that?

Chávez has successfully managed to rally a few regional nations to join ALBA - the ‘Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas’ - with a plethora of tactics that includes the canny bribery of under-financed socialist politicians that mysteriously rise through the opinion polls into domineering and unstoppable election victories. ALBA, Chávez communicates, can be the counter-weight to the U.S. push for regional dominance under the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). So far ALBA members include Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba and Bolivia.

Venezuelan blogger - Venezuela News and Views - puts it very well:

“Seriously now. ALBA is such a crackpot idea. Look at the countries: Cuba, a bankrupt terrorist totalitarian state who cannot even decently feed its people and who thrives on US embargo to justify the unjustifiable; Nicaragua, the poorest American state after Haiti, a country which is dangerously close to failed state status, where it is difficult to chose between Sandinistas and Opposition which is the most corrupt and most incompetent (does anyone sees a difference between Aleman and Ortega?); Bolivia, teetering on the edge of disintegration, landlocked, unproductive except for one area that the government is trying to fetter to make sure all its rent goes to maintain an Altiplano that has only some coca leaves to offer; and Venezuela of course, where a now certifiable leader has transformed the national treasury into his personal purse to buy himself a little empire of failed states (Ecuador next? It fits perfectly the description of near failed states). And you want to compare this to the CAN, Mercosur or even FTAA? Gimme a break…”

Nicaragua, with whom the U.S. spent much of the 1980’s having a rumble in the jungle with the once rebel and now newly elected president Daniel Ortega, immediately signed up for ALBA following Ortega’s Chávez backed socialists swept into power.

A news story from Britain’s Guardian newspaper reported:

[Bolivia’s Evo] Morales praised Ortega for “seeking alternative economic policies,” while Chávez lashed out against U.S. influence in the region, including the decade-long, Washington-backed Contra rebel movement that helped push Ortega from power 17 years ago.

“Think of what Nicaragua would be like today if the North American imperialists had allowed Daniel to continue his revolution!” he said.

He promised a slew of aid and investment, including 100,000 barrels of oil under preferential terms and the construction of an oil refinery and factories for Venezuelan products. Later, Ortega and Chávez signed agreements giving Nicaragua $20 million in loans with little or no interest for the country’s rural poor as well as help improving health care and education.

Unfortunately touchy-feely charitable do-gooders (versus ‘Evil Doers’) don’t report very satisfactory benefits for South American and Central American countries either! Oxfam America reports the U.S. / Peru trade deal as being a step back for Peru’s development and “will institutionalize an uneven playing field and will have a detrimental impact on the livelihood and health of poor Peruvians.”

The members of ALBA are trying vigorously to dismantle U.S. trade talks with each and every country in the Americas. Of the Columbia / U.S. trade talks, ALBA member Bolivian ‘peasant’ President Evo Morales and Venezuela’s Chávez said, “Colombia is opening its doors” to subsidized U.S. goods. What will invade Colombia are not the marines, but subsidized rice.”

Of course criticism of Columbia’s trade talks with the U.S. are all the more fascinating when you consider reports that “Hugo Chávez also actively supports Colombian narco-terror groups FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) and ELN (National Liberation Army) for ideological reasons and to repay them for secretly helping finance Chávez’s militant MVR movement that brought him to power.” (Source: Defend Democracy)

So in a nutshell, Hugo Chávez appears to be the instigator behind a world rally against the United States by any and all nations even slightly aggrieved by perceived American imperialism. I’m waiting for news of French involvement! The world turns.
