DCCC’s Omnipotent Rahm Emanuel Blocks Stephen Colbert

Rahm border=That politically savvy news platform ‘The Hill‘, reported today [Jonathan E. Kaplan] that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s (DCCC) all-powerful Democratic Caucus Chair, Representative [IL] Rahm Emanuel, has forbidden freshly elected Democratic members of Congress from appearing on the insanely popular Comedy Central show, The Colbert Report with the taunting but always hilarious Stephen Colbert.

The DCCC, being the ‘official campaign arm of the Democrats in the House’, is charged with protecting the DNC’s House majority ‘one congressional election campaign at a time’. So little surprise surrounded the adulation and wide acclaim received by the pungent Rahm Emanuel for sweeping the DNC into a healthy House majority in last November’s stunning elections.
It appears Stephen Colbert’s sarcastic (and poker-faced) pseudo-questioning of ‘freshman’ Democratic representatives has left a trail of political embarrassments for the otherwise quick-witted street-smart Emanuel.

Colbert’s “Better Know a District” hit list of abused and abandoned House members include:

Rep. (Dem.) Steve Cohen (Tennessee 9th District) (Comedy Central Video URL)
“Stephen asks Congressman if he’s a black woman”

Rep. (Dem.) Zack Space (Ohio 18th District) (Comedy Central Video URL)
“Stephen encourages Congressman Zack Space to admit he’s a Republic”

Rep. (Dem.) Gregory Meeks (New York 6th District) (Comedy Central Video URL)
“Stephen asks Gregory Meeks how he plans to help the terrorists and establish gay marriage”

The Hill reports that sharp-as-a-stiletto Emanuel has ordered his greenhorn House Representatives to “don’t do it [the Colbert Report, that is!] … it’s a risk and it’s probably safer not to do it,”

Commissar Emanuel, no stranger to Comedy Central’s ‘news programming’, having appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - in order to flog his new book, “The Plan: Big Ideas for America” - might appear a little hypocritical until you review his political personality’s uncanny similarity to Comedy Central programming! - rabidly outspoken with a penchant for caustic sarcasm mixed with übercool dramatics and Machiavellian spite. These are the perfect credentials for a long-lasting and extremely fast-paced political career and helps elevate his TV ‘political pundit’ side occupation.

Emanuel, like a ferret on acid, leaves a trail of evidence of his disarming ability to speak his mind, plus or minus profanity, insult, and verbal flagellation … Emanuel was not afraid to tell newly elected British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, on his first outing to a Clinton Whitehouse - roasted by the Lewinsky scandal - to not ‘fuck it up’. His now infamous dispatch of rotting fish to a political pollster that dared anger him reflects a healthy dose of ‘don’t give a damn’ mixed with an honest declaration that revenge can be wickedly entertaining. His flair for the dramatic and amusing have consistently lifted the stale stench of what is normally pure congressional babble with his amusing House speeches that include the reading of mock love letters from GOP leaders to the bloated Oil Lobbyists (see below YouTube video).

With the Bush Administration’s onward march into the abyss of political suicide, the GOP will need more than a Republican-in-drag like Rudy Giuliani or the flavorful but oh-so-scary McCain to win (or even keep) the Republican faithful in 2008! The Republican party need to rush out and find themselves a right-of-center Rahm Emanuel. Representative Emanuel with his hideously deformed personality - based on his years in the Clinton administration - has been remarkably successful at stealing a fresh wind for the DNC’s otherwise beleaguered sails.

The GOP’s answer to Emanuel? the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) recently elected Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) to Chairman of their Executive Committee. Cole, who coincidently replaced the wonderfully articulate and sadly missed Oklahoma representative J.C. Watts. Alas Chairman Cole ‘appears‘ to have about as much spunk in him as a fresh road kill.

Cole, a citizen of the Native American Chickasaw tribe, needs to follow the raucous example set by Rep. Emanuel on political warmongering and strategic hatchet-jobs before the Republicans get scalped (again) in ‘08.

Meanwhile, with both Fox News and now Comedy Central on the ‘don’t you bloody dare’ list for rookie Congressmen, where do we now go when we feel the urge to lob rotten tomatoes at eager-beaver politicians? Darn it!
